Monday 11th - Friday 15th August from 9am to 4pm

The participant should be aged 8+, and must be water confident

Bring packed lunch


Summer club will be a fun packed week of both water and shore based activities. Children will get the chance to have fun whilst learning about boats and water safety. Raft building, team games, relay races etc along with lots of other fun things. Weather permitting, we will also be taking the children across the harbour to Hardway sailing club. Loads of fun to be had and we will finish with a family BBQ on the Friday afternoon.

Prizes for the children to be won throughout the week and a great chance to make new friends.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This booking form and the associated tickets must be completed by the Parent or Guardian of the child attending the course / event.
The Parent / Guardian should be a club member and complete the booking when logged into the PSC Members’ area using their own login and NOT that of the child for whom the booking is being made.

IF THE BOOKING IS NOT DONE THIS WAY important contact details about the parent or guardian will be missed and the booking will not be valid.

Please make sure that EACH ticket shows the name of the CHILD for whom the booking is being made and NOT the parent or guardian.
There is a drop down list at the top of each ticket that allows you to select the correct name.

To complete a booking the additional tickets MUST also be completed for each child:

Please read the following booking conditions:

1. On the water activities involving children may be part of a formal training course, an informal fun event or part of a series of activity days such as the annual Summer Club.
Depending on the format activities can include, dinghy sailing, stand up paddling, kayaking and rafting on rafts made by the participants themselves.
2. All sessions are formally managed and are covered by clearly defined operating procedures.
3. When formal training sessions are being undertaken these will be delivered by Portchester Sailing Club in accordance with RYA Training Centre Guidance, and staffed by appropriately qualified and experienced RYA Instructors.
4. Portchester Sailing Club reserves the right, at all times, to cancel bookings at our discretion.
5. All participants MUST be between the ages 8 and 16, wear a suitable buoyancy aid and be confident in the water.
6. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the beginning and end of each session and at meal times where appropriate. Generally, parents or guardians must remain on the Club premises for the duration of a training session, the Senior Instructor will advise at the start of the session.
6. Training at the Club is provided almost entirely through the efforts of other club members, who are volunteers. In return for the time given by these club members to teach your child, all parents and guardians will be expected to play an active role during the training of their child. There are a number of opportunities where help is required and can be ‘beachmaster’, parent liaison officer, boats organiser/helper, on the water assistant, powerboat driver etc. Training can be given to any parent or guardian wanting to help, please ask a member of the Training Team.
7. Neither Portchester Sailing Club nor any of its members, employees or agents shall be liable in any way whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to property.
8. Portchester Sailing Club must be informed, at the time of booking, of any medical condition affecting the participant, or of any medication taken by the participant that could affect their taking part in a sailing session, e.g. asthma, epilepsy, heart conditions. PSC reserves the right to refuse any booking on medical grounds.
9. All bookings are accepted on the understanding that any instructions or directions given by any member of the Training Team are to be observed. Participants are asked to respect the equipment provided; compensation will be sought from anyone deliberately causing damage to equipment.
10. Portchester Sailing Club reserves the right at all times to refuse or restrict the use of facilities. The right is also reserved to evict anyone who refuses to comply with the conditions as stipulated, or who behaves inappropriately or, in any way, causes damage or annoyance to any other persons.
11. Participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear for the booked activity. Advice and more details are available under the Training pages on the website or contact courses@portchestersc.org.
12. If any injuries are sustained or damage to equipment or valuables occurs, participants should notify the Lead Trainer or Course Leader (SI for water based activities) immediately.
13. Bookings will NOT be confirmed without a completed booking form, medical consent form (for water based activities), photography consent form and payment to cover the appropriate course fee.
14. The fee covers the hire/provision and maintenance of training boats, the provision and maintenance of patrol craft and the fuel required, the training of instructors, and all relevant RYA books and certificates.
15. With formal training courses it is essential that the ‘student’ completes all the days of any course, including the theory based sessions (for water based activities). Failure to do so may result in the withholding of an award or completion certificate.

It is your responsibility to make known any potential medical conditions that may affect your child during the
activities associated with the programme they will be taking part in. Please therefore provide as many details
as possible. This information will be shared with the event organisers, instructors and coaches.

Portchester Sailing Club recognises the need to ensure the safety and welfare of children and young people taking part in boating. In accordance with our child protection policy we will not arrange for photographs, video or other images of young people to be taken or published without the consent of the parents/guardians.

Portchester Sailing Club will abide by the Conditions of Use below. If you have any concerns about the way images are being used, you should immediately inform the Course Organiser / Senior Instructor running the course, or the Training Secretary.

Conditions of Use
1. We will normally only identify a child by reference to the child’s first name.
2. We will not use personal details or full names (ie. first name and surname) of any child to accompany a photographic image on video, on our website, in our organisation brochure or any other electronic or printed publications without good reason. ‘Good reason’ includes using the full name of a child in a newsletter to organisation members if the child has won a trophy or award.
3. We will not include personal email or postal addresses, telephone or fax numbers on video, on our website, in our organisation brochure or in other electronic or printed publications.
4. We may use group photographs or footage with very general labels, such as Dinghy Training or Summer Club.
5. We will only use images of children who are suitably dressed, to reduce the risk of such images being used inappropriately.
