Courses and marks

This image is floated left

At Portchester we have a great expanse of water available to us; using a mix of seasonally laid, fixed and temporary laid marks, offers some great courses no matter the wind strength or direction.

Most races start and finish from our club line, with some Cup, Regatta, and Windward / LeeWard races with Committee boat start and finish within the sailing area.

Courses for the day are usually set by the OOD on the day, taking into consideration wind direction, strength and fleets sailing.

Our Club line runs between the marker on the Start Hut and Channel marker 76 on the far side of the navigable channel.

Our main sailing area (shown) contains our racing to the eastern side of the top of the harbour, a copy is available to download below along with our extended sailing area and full harbour marks.

Races such as the Run Run use the full expanse of the harbour racing the same course as Cruisers, course selection made on the day depending on wind strength and direction, course details available from SI's & Guides .
