Shorebased Courses

During the Winter months while the weather is less clement, we take full advantage of the downtime in offering a number of shorebased courses.

Practical courses include:
First Aid which can be used by instructors and general members alike
Diesel Engine Maintenance to help prevent breakdowns while afloat
Marine Radio (SRC) - are you aware that if you have a VHF radio onboard your boat, or carry a handheld VHF whilst out on the water, you need to hold an operator's licence. It only takes a day to get your Marine Radio certificate

We also offer the following theory courses:
Day Skipper Theory runs over a number of evening and weekends and provides a comprehensive introduction for new skippers to navigation and seamanship.
Safe and Fun - an online course predominantly aimed at our members leading training, coaching, or looking after children or vulnerable adults, but open to all.

For more information either check out our calendar or email courses@portchestersc.org.uk.
